Before the carbon monoxide scare grabbed the headlines at the ACHA National Tournament, the Illinois hockey team bounced the University of Central Oklahoma from the tourney with a 4-1 win on Saturday. Jitters affected both teams early on in the first period as neither team seized control of the game. With less than six minutes left in the period, however, the Illini appeared to break the deadlocked game after a pile-up in front of the net resulted with the puck crossing the goal line.

The 2007 American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament was filled with upsets, and the Illinois men's hockey team was one of the victims.

For the second year in a row, the Illini fell one goal short of advancing to the National Championship game, this time losing 3-2 in the semifinals to 10th-seeded Oakland University in Youngstown, Ohio, on Saturday.

The Illinois men's hockey team finished the regular season with a 29-6 record and a No. 3 ranking in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, but none of that matters now.

The Illini head into the 2007 ACHA National Tournament in Youngstown, Ohio, with its slate wiped clean.

In the final home game of their careers the Illinois men's hockey club's seniors put on a show that will be remembered.

From the moment all six seniors stepped on the ice to be recognized in pre-game ceremonies with their families, the six Illini knew it was their night.

After falling just short of winning the Central States Collegiate Hockey League conference tournament title, the Illinois men's hockey team returns home this weekend for its final home game of the season.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association's No. 3-ranked Illini will host ACHA Division-II opponent Western Illinois on Friday at 7 p.

The Central States Collegiate Hockey League's best players, along with a few former Illinois men's hockey club alumni, will invade the University of Illinois Ice Arena this weekend.

The Illini will welcome back some of its alumni for its annual alumni weekend as part of the final home game of the season.

The Central States Collegiate Hockey League announced its 2006-07 award winners on Monday, and the list was filled with Orange and Blue.

Ten Illinois players were honored with awards, including senior goaltender Mike DeGeorge and junior forward Johnny Liang, who were selected to the First-Team All-CSCHL.

For the fifth straight season and 16th time overall, the Illinois men's hockey club made an appearance in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League tournament championship game, but the Illini allowed the tournament title to slip through their fingers.

Despite scoring a combined 18 goals in the tournament's first two rounds, the second-seeded Illini were unable to muster enough offense in the final game, resulting in a 5-3 upset victory for fourth-seeded Iowa State on Sunday morning in Athens, Ohio.

The Illinois men's hockey team finished its Central States Collegiate Hockey League regular season with a two-game sweep over interstate rival Robert Morris. The No. 1-ranked Illini bounced back from their two losses in Ohio the previous week by defeating the Eagles 5-3 and 5-1 on Friday and Saturday nights at the University of Illinois Ice Arena.

Even though the Illinois men's hockey team experienced its first sweep in over a year at the hands of the Ohio Bobcats, the Illini are still ranked No. 1 in the American Collegiate Hockey Association and still have their eyes on the big prize, an ACHA National Championship.

The Illinois men's hockey team has yet to figure out how to beat the Ohio University on the road.

The Bobcats defeated the American Collegiate Hockey Association's No. 1-ranked Illini 3-2 and 3-0 on Friday and Saturday night in Athens, Ohio, to improve their record to 12-0-1 against the Illini in Athens, since Ohio joined the Central States Collegiate Hockey League in 1993.

For the fifth consecutive season, the Central States Collegiate Hockey League regular season championship will be on the line when the Illinois men's hockey club faces Ohio this weekend.
Coming off convincing 7-1 and 9-0 wins over DePaul last weekend, Illinois heads into this weekend's games against Ohio on Friday and Saturday night in Athens, Ohio separated by just two points in the CSCHL standings.

After a three-week trip to Italy for the Winter World University Games, four of the Illinois men's club hockey players returned to Champaign alongside their head coach.

Senior forward Marshall Chubirka, junior forwards Drew Heredia and Johnny Liang and junior defenseman Dave Schmitt helped lead the U.

With a few of its top players overseas at the Winter World University Games, there were some critics who thought the Illinois men's hockey club would struggle against top-10 ranked teams Lindenwood and Iowa State.
